The core of the XtremeHeater is a heating element that is self-regulated at a pre-set temperature and automatically varies its wattage in order to maintain that pre-set temperature. What this means is that the heater will increase power and heat as it gets colder to maintain the same temperature. This adaptability to outside temperatures also means less power consumed over the heating period. The XtremeHeater is engineered to be fail safe and reliable with no sparks so that it is safe for marine use. What this smaller size means to you is a much easier installation and optimal mounting location to ensure safety and uniform heating of the bilge compartment.
Another factor taken into account during design of the XtremeHeater is the mounting angle. Any of the heaters we have available can be mounted at ANY angle (upside down, sideways, etc.). This is something the competition can NOT do.
Independent tests show that the competition's heater must be "on" for a period of 10 minutes or longer to reach normal operating temperature and the fan has to run an additional 10 minutes after the heater shuts down to avoid overheating of the unit. This is due in large part to the heating element; it is old technology and inefficient.
